The greatest joys of life are happy memories. Your job is to create as many of them as possible.
The last few days have been quotes about relationships and happiness. I firmly believe we all need good relationships. Some relationships take more work, some don't. Some relationships should be cultivated, while others shouldn't. It is important to figure out how to be happy and what makes you happiest!
The fountain of content must spring up in the mind, and he who hath so little knowledge of human nature as to seek happiness by changing anything but his own disposition, will waste his life in fruitless efforts and multiply the grief he proposes to remove.
The most important choice we make every day is whether we'll be happy or disgruntled about the life we live. Whatever we do, we always have the choice. Even the person working for a minimum wage at some fast food place has a choice about whether to enjoy her work and treat customers with a smile and joyful presentation, or to be grumpy and begrudge every moment. While the low paying job is a fact, the attitude we choose is a variable.
Heavenly Father is able to accomplish these two great goals -- the immortality and eternal life of man -- because He is a God of creation and compassion. Creating and being compassionate are two objectives that contribute to our Heavenly Father's perfect happiness. Creating and being compassionate are two activities that we are His spirit children can and should emulate.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Happiness, Your Heritage given by Dieter F. Uchtdorf during the General Relief Society Meeting in October of 2008. Indeed happiness is our heritage, men and women alike. And it is our job to figure out how to experience it in this life so that we may experience it in the eternities.
Your unhappiness is not due to your want of a fortune or high position or fame or sufficient vitamins. It is due not to a want of something outside of you, but to a want of something inside you. You were made for perfect happiness. No wonder everything short of God disappoints you.
"You were made for perfect happiness." I love that! Time to claim what we were made for.
It is possible to live happily in the here and now. So many conditions of happiness are available - more than enough for you to be happy right now. You don't have to run into the future in order to get more.
The greatest discovery of the 19th century was not in the realm of the physical sciences, but the power of the subconscious mind touched by faith. Any individual can tap into an eternal reservoir of power that will enable them to overcome any problem that may arise. All weaknesses can be overcome, bodily healing, financial independence, spiritual awakening, and prosperity beyond your wildest dreams. This is the superstructure of happiness.
Not sure I entirely agree with Mr. James here, but I do believe strongly in the power of positive thinking. Positive thinking combined with a testimony of Christ and that I believe in the superstructure of happiness.
And, finding there was greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same; having been myself a follower of righteousness, desiring also to be one who possessed great knowledge, and to be a greater follower of righteousness, and to possess a greater knowledge, and to be a father of many nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions, and to keep the commandments of God, I became a rightful heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers.
Seek to know what your individualized Plan of Happiness includes and then live for it. There is a Plan and within that Plan we can all expect to find happiness through our righteousness.
Happiness comes from good health and a bad memory.
We all can think of times we were wrong or felt we had cause to be sad, this would be a good time to forget. Move forward. If you don't have good health, get it. And experience the happiness that comes from a life progressing in a healthy way.
Our yearnings for happiness were implanted in our hearts by Deity. They represent a kind of homesickness, for we have a residual memory of our premortal existence. They are also a foretaste of the fullness of joy that is promised to the faithful. We can expect with perfect faith that our Father will fulfill our innermost longings for joy.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.
